Introduction

CATTS are currently recruiting for a Senior Classification Analyst to join our regulatory trade compliance team in Poland.

Reporting to the Classification Manager, your task will be to analyze product information in order to assign HS and ECCN numbers, to review client materials, technical materials, drawings, and other literature to ensure proper classifications are assigned. Communicating with client on issues regarding detailed information on items and to support on customer queries about classification and provide justification documents.

You will work closely with our international team of product classification experts, as an extension of our clients’ organizations. Team play, respect and communication are all essential within our company; we expect you to work effectively with with your colleagues, our partners and clients.

Responsibilities

• Analysing product information in order to assign HS and ECCN numbers: Examine technical specifications, material composition, functionality, and intended use of the product. Compare the product's features to those defined in the HS nomenclature or ECCN regulations. For ECCN assignments, analyze whether the product falls under export controls due to its potential dual-use nature (civilian and military applications) or compliance with Wassenaar Arrangement guidelines.

• Reviewing client materials, technical materials, drawings, and other literature to ensure proper classifications are assigned: Verification of already assigned customs codes in case of disputes with customs. Revision of specifications, datasheets, user manuals, and operating instructions that detail the product’s features.

• Communicating with client on issues regarding detailed information on items: Engage with clients to understand the product's purpose, unique features, and export destinations. Request missing or incomplete data, such as technical diagrams, chemical compositions, or intended use statements. Maintain communication during the classification process to ensure client expectations and regulatory requirements are met.

• Support on customer queries about classification and provide justification documents: Address questions about why a specific HS or ECCN code was chosen, explaining the reasoning with reference to classification rules and product details. Provide detailed classification reports, including: relevant tariff headings or subheadings, references to explanatory notes or legal rulings, supporting technical documents, such as datasheets or testing results.

Requirements

• Experience: at least 5 years of experience in HS/ECCN classification. A background in International Trade is preferred.

• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is essential; additional languages are a plus.

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel is a must, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills to support seamless collaboration within a global, virtual team environment.

• Self-Management & Independence: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, managing tasks and responsibilities effectively.

• Flexibility: Willingness for minimal or occasional travel as required.
