China: New anti-dumping duties on imports of Chinese tires for cars and trucks

Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1540 of 6 July 2026 imposing definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of new pneumatic and rubber tyres used in motor vehicles, buses or trucks (with a load index of up to 121) originating in China was published in the Official Journal of the EU. The product concerned is currently covered by CN codes 4011 10 00 and 4011 20 10. The investigation showed the existence of systemic distortions in the PRC and price dumping, which resulted in material injury to the Union industry, manifested, m.in alia, in a decrease of 8 % in Union production and a loss of market share. The rates of the definitive anti-dumping duty applicable to the net Union frontier price, duty unpaid, vary for different producers and range from 4,3 % to 45,3 %. From the perspective of the compliance divisions, it is crucial to implement strict procedures for verifying the customs status and capital ties of Chinese contractors in order to avoid sanctions and control price risk, given the fact that the existing provisional measures have not been applied. The regulation entered into force on 8 July 2026, is binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all member states.

The EU has launched an investigation into alleged anti-dumping duties on solid glass microspheres (commercially known as 'glass beads') from China

The product subject to this investigation is solid glass microspheres (commercially known as ‘glass beads’) not exceeding 2 mm in diameter, with surface either coated or uncoated, irrespective of the intended use or production process, currently falling within CN codes ex 7018 10 90, ex 7018 20 00 and ex 7018 90 90 (‘the product under investigation’). The product concerned does not include products defined as ‘glass beads’ that have the form of small pierced balls, currently falling within CN codes 7018 10 11 and 7018 10 19. Source

European Union: Review of the anti-dumping measures on steel products from Turkey

Notice published in the Official Journal of the EU on the initiation by the European Commission of an expiry review of the anti-dumping measures on imports from Turkey of certain hot-rolled flat products of cast iron, non-alloy steel and other alloy steel. The investigation, initiated at the request of EUROFER, aims to examine the risk of continuation or recurrence of dumping and injury to the Union industry should the current duties be repealed. Although stainless steel, tool or high-speed steel products m.in are excluded from the review, the possible maintenance of restrictions directly affects the cost of basic raw materials used in the production of enclosures, rack cabinets and structural elements in the electronics sector. The product under review is currently falling within CN codes 7208 10 00, 7208 25 00, 7208 26 00, 7208 27 00, 7208 36 00, 7208 37 00, 7208 38 00, 7208 39 00, 7208 40 00, 7208 52 10, 7208 52 99, 7208 53 00, 7208 54 00, ex 7211 13 00 (TARIC code 7211 13 00 19). ex 7211 14 00 (TARIC codes 7211 14 00 10, 7211 14 00 95), ex 7211 19 00 (TARIC codes 7211 19 00 10 7211 19 00 95), ex 7225 19 10 (TARIC code 7225 19 10 90), 7225 30 90, ex 7225 40 60 (TARIC code 7225 40 60 90), 7225 40 90, ex 7226 19 10 (TARIC code 7226 19 10 95), ex 7226 91 91 (TARIC code 7226 91 91 19) and 7226 91 99. For trade and procurement professionals, the stabilization or increase in tariffs is a signal to carefully plan purchasing budgets and the potential diversification of suppliers of semi-finished metal products. From the perspective of compliance divisions, it is crucial to monitor procedural deadlines (including 37 days for submitting comments) and to strictly verify the customs status and capital ties of trading partners in order to avoid sanctions for non-cooperation with the EC. The investigation will normally last between 12 and 15 months, during which time the existing definitive duties remain in force.

EU Commission imposes anti-dumping duties on passenger car and light lorry tyres from China

Commission imposed definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of passenger car and light lorry tyres from China following an investigation that found unfairly low-priced imports were harming the EU tyre industry. The measures aim to restore fair competition and support a sector employing more than 80,000 people across 14 EU countries.

EU: Imports of batteries from China under the scrutiny of Brussels – the European Commission is launching an anti-dumping investigation

The European Commission has officially opened an anti-dumping proceeding concerning imports of manganese dioxide (cylindrical) alkaline (alkaline) galvanic cells and batteries from China, following a complaint lodged by VARTA. The products under investigation, classified under CN code 8506 10 11, are a common source of power for mass consumer devices, computer accessories or measuring equipment, so that the outcome of the investigation will have a direct impact on the cost structure in the electronics sector. For trade and supply professionals, it is crucial to know that the Commission plans to register imports at an early stage of the case, which creates a real risk of retroactive calculation of safeguard duties at a later stage. Compliance divisions, on the other hand, have to keep an eye on strict deadlines – unrelated importers and Chinese manufacturers have only 7 days from the publication of the notice to submit data for sampling. The whole procedure will take between 12 and 14 months, but the introduction of possible provisional duties can be expected within 7-8 months.

EU is opening an anti-dumping investigation into imports of polyether polyols from China

The European Commission has formally opened an anti-dumping proceeding concerning imports of certain polyether polyols originating in the People's Republic of China following a complaint lodged by key EU producers, m.in. BASF and Covestro. Polyether polyols are organic polymers that form the basis for the production of polyurethanes (e.g. polyurethane foams), which are commonly used in the electronics and ICT sector as insulation materials, enclosure seals, soundproofing components and protection systems for fragile components. The product complained of is a product falling within CN code ex 3907 29 20 (TARIC codes 3907 29 20 35 and 3907 29 20 90). CN and TARIC codes are provided for information purposes only and without prejudice to any subsequent reclassification of tariffs. For trade and supply professionals, this information is a critical red flag, as the Commission plans to register imports at an early stage of the investigation, which may result in the subsequent retroactive collection of definitive duties. Compliance divisions, on the other hand, must pay special attention to extremely stringent procedural deadlines – unrelated importers and exporting producers have only 7 days from the publication of the notice to provide the information necessary for the selection of the sample as part of the sampling. The proceedings are expected to be closed within 12 to a maximum of 14 months, but possible interim measures may be introduced as early as 7-8 months.

EU's anti-dumping duties on calcium silica from China may expire in 2027

A notice from the European Commission on the imminent expiry of the anti-dumping measures on calcium silica originating in the People's Republic of China has been published in the Official Journal of the EU. According to the official announcement, the current safeguard duty will cease to apply on March 25, 2027, unless EU producers submit a reasoned request for a review of the procedure. Calcium silica is mainly used in iron and steel metallurgy (as a strong deoxidizing and desulfurizing agent) and in the production of specialized alloys that form the foundation for advanced industrial and foundry constructions, and equipment housings. For the electronics and ICT sector, the possible removal of barriers to this raw material may translate into a change in the cost of basic components and greater availability of materials used in the production chain of technological equipment. From the perspective of trade and procurement specialists, this is an important signal for monitoring market prices and revising contracts with Asian suppliers, while compliance departments must remember that the application for extension of protection must be submitted no later than three months before the indicated March date.
