Our Story
Founded in 2016, CATTS was brought to life by Peter Bulters and his son, Nick Bulters. With a combined 50 years of experience in trade compliance management, they set out to reshape the landscape of the industry.
Peter Bulters, our former CEO and now Chairman of the Board and Strategic Advisor, is a seasoned professional with a background as a Senior Vice President of Global Trade Governance at a major international customs broker. Starting his career as a customs official in 1983, Peter has navigated through senior trade compliance roles across major financial and Fortune 500 logistics and technology companies. His firsthand experiences with the challenges of internal politics and power struggles in organizations inspired the foundation of CATTS, emphasizing a practical, customer-centric approach and a deep commitment to partnership.
Nick Bulters, who co-founded CATTS and has now taken over as CEO, brings a sharp focus on operational efficiency and innovation. His expertise in software and project management within the global trade sector ensures that our solutions and services are not only effective but also at the forefront of technological advancement.
Together, they have led a dynamic team of professionals dedicated to helping clients navigate the complex world of trade compliance. Since its inception, CATTS has evolved from a two-person consulting firm to a global entity with over 100 dedicated employees worldwide. Our team is a blend of experts in customs, trade compliance, technology, and project management. The unique combination of consulting, managed services, and advanced technology keeps CATTS at the cutting edge, providing comprehensive solutions that maintain our distinctive position in the market.
Global Footprint
We are directly active in 50 countries, support customers in 15 different languages and with our extended network, we provide other service - and software providers with trade content for 152 countries. We proactively share knowledge and write publications which get shared in the form of articles and a monthly newsletter on global compliance topics and updates.
Shared Service Centers of Excellence
CATTS' main shared service centers of excellence are located in Poland (EMEA), India (APAC) and Mexico (Americas). Services not limited to for example FTA / Duty optimisation, Origin determination, Customs valuation, Compliance helpdesk, Transactional audits & testing, Risk management, Broker management, Tariff classification and Dual Use / ECCN classification are provided from these locations. Our teams closely cooperate with our in-country experts in different locations around the world.
