Brazil customs tariff update
Brazil customs authority has updated the import tariff, which includes the changes in the duty rates and preferential duty rates for certain products classified under tariff chapters 29, 32, 38 etc.
Dubai customs has officially announced the flexible implementation of the Integrated Customs Tariff at the 12-digit level.
Dubai Customs has rolled out a new 12-digit Integrated Customs Tariff under Customs Notice No. 10/2025, beginning a six-month flexible transition period starting 1 August 2025. During this phase, both the current 8-digit and the new 12-digit systems will operate in parallel. After this period, usage of the 12-digit format will become mandatory. The move aligns the UAE with the GCC-wide Integrated Customs Tariff, facilitating unified trade across member states. Tariff codes have expanded from around 7,800 lines to over 13,400, significantly improving specificity in product classification. Source : Government of Dubai
EU classification update of certain goods
COMMISSION IMPLEMENTING REGULATION (EU) 2025/1492 of 14 July 2025 concerning the classification of certain goods in the Combined Nomenclature.
- 62129000 - Article in the shape of a belt (approximately 25 cm wide in the middle of the back), made of highly elasticated knitted textile fabrics to be worn around the lower back (lumbar region). In the middle of the back of the belt, there is a vertical strip sewn to it. The strip is approximately 11 cm wide, consisting mainly of woven textile fabrics and not elasticated. South Africa Tariff Amendment
Customs and Excise Act, 1964: The tariffs amendments notice, scheduled for publication in the Government Gazette, relates to the amendments to – Part 1 of Schedule No. 1, by the substitution of tariff subheadings 1001.91 and 1001.99 as well as 1101.00.10, 1101.00.20, 1101.00.30 and 1101.00.90, to increase the rate of customs duty on wheat and wheaten flour from 54.95c/kg and 82.42c/kg, respectively to 85.15c/kg and 127.72c/kg, in terms of the existing variable tariff formula (ITAC Minute M05/2025). United States: Extending the modification of the reciprocal tariff rates
Based on additional information and recommendations from various senior officials, including information on the status of discussions with trading partners, that it is necessary and appropriate to extend the suspension effectuated by Executive Order 14266 until 12:01 a.m. eastern daylight time on August 1, 2025. With respect to the PRC, the separate tariff suspension effectuated by Executive Order 14298 of May 12, 2025 (Modifying Reciprocal Tariff Rates To Reflect Discussions With the People’s Republic of China), remains in effect and is unaltered by this order. The Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) shall be modified, effective with respect to goods entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption, on or after 12:01 a.m. eastern daylight time on July 9, 2025, by suspending headings 9903.01.43 through 9903.01.62 and 9903.01.64 through 9903.01.76, and subdivisions (v)(xiii)(1)-(9) and (11)-(57) of U.S. note 2 to subchapter III of chapter 99 of the HTSUS, until 12:01 a.m. eastern daylight time on August 1, 2025.
The Secretary of Commerce, the Secretary of Homeland Security, and the United States Trade Representative, as applicable, in consultation with the Secretary of State, the Secretary of the Treasury, the Assistant to the President for Economic Policy, the Senior Counselor for Trade and Manufacturing, the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs, and the Chair of the International Trade Commission, are directed and authorized to take all necessary actions to implement and effectuate this order, consistent with applicable law, including through temporary suspension or amendment of regulations or notices in the Federal Register and by adopting rules, regulations, or guidance, and to employ all powers granted to the President by IEEPA, as may be necessary to implement this order. WCO HTS revision from 01 January 2028
The Harmonized System (customs nomenclature) has been revised by the World Customs Council for the eighth time. The changes will be integrated into the customs tariff as of 1 January 2028. The Federal Council ordinance on this is expected to be published in summer 2027. Source
