China: customs released Chinese version of the revised catalogue of the HS Nomenclature 2022 Edition

In order to adapt to the development of international trade, the World Customs Organization has released the revised catalogue of the HS Nomenclature for the 2022 edition. In order to fulfill the obligations of the parties to the Harmonized System Convention and ensure the effective implementation of the new version of the Harmonized System in China, the Chinese version of the revised catalogue of the HS Nomenclature 2022 Edition is released by China GAC on Oct 18, 2021.

The "Harmonized System" (HS) is a commodity classification and coding system jointly used by all parties in international trade developed under the auspices of the World Customs Organization (WCO). In order to adapt to the development of trade and technology, the "Harmonized System" is generally revised once every five years. WCO started its sixth review cycle in September 2014, and its outcome, the 2022 version of the Harmonized System, will be implemented globally on Jan 1, 2022.

European Commission published the combined nomenclature for 2022.

The European Commission has published the latest version of the Combined Nomenclature (CN) applicable as from 1 January 2022. The 2022 CN reflects the latest changes in the Harmonised System Nomenclature.
The Combined Nomenclature forms the basis for the declaration of goods (a) at importation or exportation or (b) when subject to intra-Union trade statistics. This determines which rate of customs duty applies and how the goods are treated for statistical purposes. The CN is thus a vital working tool for business and the Member States' customs administrations.

The CN constitutes the basis for the customs declaration of goods and is also used for excise duties, VAT, Intrastat purposes. The CN determines the tariff code and the rate of customs duty that applies to a particular product.

Starting 1 January 2022, the new or amended tariff codes will be used. Consequently, it should be analyzed to what extent your customs declarations and authorization held (e.g. special customs regime, excise), Intrastat declarations and also operations involving transactions with United Kingdom are affected by the CN 2022.
